Happy October! We are excited to begin a brand-new month in Sunday School with the theme: Wisdom. Throughout this month, children will discover how true wisdom comes from God and how following His ways is more valuable than anything else. Please also see the attached family devotional resource to continue the learning and faith conversations at home.

October Bible Lessons Overview

Samuel Anoints David – 1 Samuel 16:1–13
➤ God sees what is in the heart, not just what is on the outside.

David and the Psalms – Psalm 1:1–4 (Supporting: Psalm 23:1–2; 8:1; 18:2)
➤ God teaches us wisdom through worship and prayer.

Solomon Chooses Wisdom – 1 Kings 3:4–15 (Supporting: Proverbs 15:1; 3:5–6; 17:17)

This Week’s Learning Point

Week 1 – Samuel Anoints David (1 Samuel 16:1–13)

When Samuel was sent to anoint Israel’s next king, he thought Eliab looked like the right choice. But God reminded him that people look at the outside, while God looks at the heart. God chose David, the youngest son, to be king because of his heart for the Lord.

This week, children will learn that wisdom means seeing as God sees—valuing the heart and character more than appearances.

At-Home Connection
To help your child grow in wisdom this week, try these simple activities:

Discussion: Talk with your child about how people often judge others by appearances. How does God want us to look at people differently?

Prayer: Ask God together to help your family value the heart over appearances.

Family Challenge: Each family member chooses one person this week to encourage—not based on what they look like, but because of their kindness or character.

World Communion Sunday

​

This week, we will have a combined service for World Communion Sunday.
Please bring your children to the elementary room by 10:50 AM, and we will go together to the main sanctuary.
Families arriving after that time may go directly to the sanctuary.

During the service, after the children’s sermon, we will have a special time of learning about Samuel.

October 31 (Friday) – HOLYWIN Worship
Join us for a special night of worship!

Time: 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM

Theme: Holywin Worship (Dress up as a biblical character!)

Activities: Bible Quiz & Praise
